Roasted Baru Seeds (100g)

We are very lucky to have this rare and amazing seed to bring to you as these are the only Baru seeds to be directly imported to the Uk from Brazil.

Baru seeds are a wildly harvested legume from the Baruzeiro tree found in the Cerrado - the vast and dense tropical savanna biome of Brazil and Bolivia. Although compared to nuts because of their taste profile, baru are actually seeds found at the heart of the baru fruit.

Baru seeds are incredibly nutritious and by comparison, contain more protein and antioxidants than any other nut on the market. Baru seeds have:

- 25 grams of digestible protein and 13 grams of fibre per 100 grams
- Their total antioxidant capacity is off-the-charts with an ORAC score of 21,100
- They are packed with micronutrients including calcium, magnesium, potassium, and iron
- They contain zero cholesterol and fewer calories than other nuts

Baru nuts are not only good for you - your purchase contributes to the vitality of the ecosystem by preventing deforestation and preserving the natural flora of this precious region. The Baruzeiro tree is drought-resistant and has a very low water footprint needing only rainwater to grow and requires no external irrigation, artificial fertilizers, or pesticides. Baru seeds are a truly sustainable product sourced and harvested through fair trade practices helping to support indigenous villagers through job creation.

These roasted ones are delicious and you wont regret your leap of faith.
